ENVIRONMENT WEEK     June 4 - 10, 2018
Environment Week is a time for grassroots action to help preserve, protect and restore our environment. This annual event provides us all with an opportunity to celebrate the progress that has been made but also to encourage further efforts all year long. It is important to remember that every effort counts, big or small.

Wed., June 6    Clean Air Day
Clean Air means Wild Wacky Wednesday for elementary school students. Don’t miss the spectacle when the students come to school sporting crazy get-ups and using creative green power.

Saturday, June 9    Recycling Round-up   10 am - 2 pm
Location: parking lot at Geikie St. & Hazel Ave.

Electronic Waste and Household hazardous Waste
Bring unwanted computers, keyboards, monitors, laptops, notebooks, mice, TV’s, paint, aerosols, solvents, glues and corrosive products for safe disposal and/or recycling.

Community Shred-it Event
Do you have personal documents that need to be shredded before they can be recycled? Residents and small businesses are welcome to participate.

NEW!  Perennial Plant Exchange
The Jasper Local Food Society is hosting a perennial plant exchange. Pot your healthy plants in a sturdy container. No bags please. Label with the botanical and common name and care information. You don't have  to bring plants to take some home.

Thursday, June 14     Stewardship Day
All non-essential Parks Canada and Municipality of Jasper employees join forces on Stewardship Day to pick litter along the major roadways and in busy day-use areas. For the safety of all, please slow down your vehicle as you pass the workers.

Saturday, July 28   Jasper's Secret Garden Tour
2:00 - 7:00 pm    $20 Tickets available at the library
This self-guided tour of eight private residential gardens is a fundraiser for the library. When you purchase your ticket, you will get a map and description of the featured gardens. Take your time and walk or bike to each location to see these lovely floral displays and garden beds.

Toward Zero Waste Events

Events can generate a lot of waste, which can be both costly and have a negative impact on the environment.

A Zero Waste Event is any event that works towards minimizing waste generation and maximizing reusing and recycling to achieve the greatest possible waste diversion.
